Waterline Square Skatepark

New York, New York

In collaboration with GID Development Group and Mural Arts & Consulting, we designed and painted five interconnected murals within the indoor skatepark at The Waterline Club, the largest private club in New York City nestled in the Upper West Side.

Each mural, a tribute to the city that never sleeps, presents a snapshot of iconic New York scenes. Framed by graffiti-inspired broken walls, the murals act as portals to the pulsating city outside. With the integration of graphic design elements and photorealistic trompe l’oeil landscapes, we've captured the essence of the city, and imbued the space with a dynamic energy that reflects the spirited, youthful vibe of the skatepark.

Attention to detail is our calling card. Marvel at the meticulously rendered windows on the skyscrapers, or the lifelike soda cans perched on the Sabrett hot dog cart. Note the carefully applied street-art patina of the encircling walls. Spot the playful street art mice caught in mischief, the casually tossed Converse sneakers slung over a wire, and don't overlook King Kong. Perched atop the Empire State's spire, he's roaring above everyday city symbols like the familiar Anthora Greek coffee cup.

At the heart of the skatepark, you'll find a captivating, panoramic mural capturing the city at sunset. This portrayal unites iconic landmarks - the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and the Brooklyn Bridge - into a captivating tableau that encapsulates the pulsating spirit of Manhattan. A closer look through the windows of an artfully rendered MTA subway car reveals a mesmerizing nightscape. As the city slumbers beneath a blanket of stars, its lights continue to glimmer, casting a magical glow against the moonlit sky.

The completed murals create an immersive, alternative reality where youthful exuberance is set free. This grand representation of the world's most exciting city invites exploration, provokes playfulness, and challenges fear. We have faith that this artistic haven will inspire the budding skaters and creatives who stumble upon this clandestine underground clubhouse. And who knows? Some of the delightful individuals we encountered during the project may well become the creative thought-leaders of tomorrow.
